ELECT BRANDON CRUZE TO COCHRANE TOWN COUNCIL
Thanks for taking the time to stop by, and taking the minute to get to know a little about me, and my family.
I was born and raised here. I spent a lot of my childhood doing what most Cochrane kids do. I got to experience everything from running the empty fields on the south side of the tracks, the classic A-1 drive through, to the old arcade above video box office, and to where we are today. I've seen our community grow exponentially. Now, raising my own family here after a short leave, and getting a different perspective again on life living outside of Cochrane, it's become more clear this is where I want to be, and where I want to continue raising my family.
I'm a father to my beautiful fourteen year old daughter Jada, and my twelve year old son Jaxon. My wife of 15 years Lisa, has been an integral part of my life. Lisa and I first met in Cochrane High School in grade nine, when she immigrated from England in 1999. We are an active family, not only enjoying bike riding and walking, but we enjoy the outdoor life, especially watersports, and camping.
Today, I'm proud to say that the majority of my family is still right here in Cochrane. That includes my parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, my brother and friends. I also have family that are spread out north of Cochrane, in the Rural Rocky View County.
My personal work career has been a long and challenging one, but one that's taught me the importance of being not only approachable, but enabled me to gain a better understanding of what it means to be close to home ,with my family, and how I can become more engaged in doing what I've always loved doing, working with the community.
My community engagements started early on, much with the assistance of one of our current Town Councillor's, Susan Flowers. Susan actually played a big part in my life, perhaps even more than her or myself at the time even realized. Her work in the community was always inspiring, and little did I know as a young person, her work would inspire me still to this day in my adult life.
I've spent a lot of time volunteering in many different areas, including going to Mexico, to build homes for poverty stricken families with the Cochrane and area Boys and Girls Club. I've also took part in every aspect of building the Cochrane Boys and Girls Club building we have today. My commitment, and families commitment to volunteering, is something we always look forward to.
Moving on to my work career, I've worked in almost every aspect of the oil and gas sector, including working on drilling rigs, seismic exploration, well servicing, heavy equipment, including operating the largest oil sand haul trucks on the planet. I've worked in various management roles over seeing large groups of people, with a focus on implementing a safe and healthy workplace.
Through my work career, I've obtained my NCSO designation, which stands for National Construction Safety Officer, which I completed through the Alberta Construction Safety Association. I have completed thirty-two other certifications in the related field.
Today, I'm a local Cochrane business owner, and Entrepreneur. My goal going forward, is to serve the community which has served me and my family for decades.
Thank you for reading my platform, and I hoped to have earned your vote in the upcoming election!
